Nepali Congress raises concerns over PM's comments on Home Minister investigation

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has criticized Prime Minister and Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) for what they perceive as attempts to clear Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane of allegations.

During a House of Representatives session on Sunday, NC lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Gautam expressed concerns over the Prime Minister's and the IGP's statements, likening them to judicial decrees.

Gautam emphasized that such actions raise doubts about the fairness of the investigation into Lamichhane.

"The Prime Minister's statements seem akin to a judge's ruling or a king's decree, which is troubling," Gautam stated. "This undermines the credibility of the inquiry."

He called for the immediate formation of a parliamentary committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure transparency.
