NRT secures quarterfinal berth in Birat Gold Cup, defeats Tribhuvan Army Club

MORANG: The New Road Team (NRT) has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Birat Gold Cup, currently underway in Morang. In a thrilling match held at the Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar last night, NRT secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Tribhuvan Army Club.

The NRT players Richard and Afiz Olabal showcased outstanding performances, each scoring a goal to secure the win for their team.

Following their triumph, NRT is set to face Sikkim Degan of India in the second quarterfinal match scheduled for Sunday. Afiz of NRT was honored as the 'Player of the Match', earning a cash prize of Rs 11,000.

Meanwhile, the first quarterfinal match of the tournament is set to take place tonight between Shangri-La Morang Football Club and Bhutan's RTC FC Club.

The Birat Gold Cup has attracted participation from Nepal's A Division clubs as well as teams from India and Bhutan.

The tournament offers a lucrative prize pool, with the winner set to receive Rs 1.1 million and the runner-up to be awarded Rs 550,000.
