NC urges parliamentary inquiry into fraud allegations, points to Lamichhane's possible involvement

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), Nepal's leading opposition party, is calling for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of cooperative fraud.

During a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Ramesh Lekhak, the party's chief whip, highlighted the need for a thorough examination of the case. He cited evidence suggesting that Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane may be involved in the fraud.

Lekhak emphasized that failure to address these concerns could result in disruptions to parliamentary proceedings for which the government would be held accountable.

Earlier discussions saw Prime Minister Dahal dismissing claims of Lamichhane's involvement due to a lack of evidence. However, he assured that if Lamichhane is found guilty, appropriate action will be taken.

Dahal urged the NC not to hinder parliamentary sessions, stressing his personal oversight of the case, which has yet to yield evidence implicating Lamichhane.
