Nepali Congress urges Home Minister Lamichhane to step down amid fraud claims
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has called for the resignation of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane over allegations of involvement in cooperative fraud.
During a session of the House of Representatives (HoR), NC lawmaker Deepak Pandey emphasized that Lamichhane's continuation as Home Minister could hinder a fair investigation into the fraud case.
Pandey accused Lamichhane of assuming his ministerial duties despite ongoing investigations by Nepali Police and the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) into his alleged role in the fraudulent activities.
The NC's demand for Lamichhane's resignation underscores concerns regarding transparency and accountability within the government, prompting calls for swift action to address the allegations.
