Former Speaker Mahara remanded in custody for four days
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to remand former Speaker and Vice Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Krishna Bahadur Mahara in custody for four days.
Mahara was arrested in Bhairahawa on Monday over his alleged involvement in a gold smuggling case.
Following a recommendation from the Gold Smuggling Probe Commission, the court approved the request for remanding Mahara in custody for further investigation.
This decision allows authorities to detain Mahara for questioning and to gather additional evidence related to the case.
