Mayor Dahal honored with International Mayor Award in UK

CHITWAN: Renu Dahal, the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, has been bestowed with the prestigious International Mayor Award 2024.

The accolade was conferred upon her by Mayor Sadik Khan of London during a ceremony held at the House of Commons in London, UK, on Thursday night.

Mayor Dahal was recognized under the esteemed Political and Public Life Award category for her remarkable contributions and leadership.

At the event, Mayor Khan of London was also honored with the Local Government Award, while the International Woman of the Year Award was presented to Amina Gurib Fakim, the first female president of Mauritius.

Prior to the award ceremony, Mayor Dahal held productive discussions with Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans and Conservative MP Dean Russell of the British Parliament House of Commons. During these discussions, Mayor Dahal extended an invitation to the UK leaders and other dignitaries to visit Bharatpur as part of the Visit Bharatpur Year 2024 celebrations.

This recognition not only honors Mayor Dahal's individual achievements but also highlights the growing global recognition of Bharatpur Metropolitan City's progress and leadership in municipal governance.
