Nepal clinches semifinal berth in a dominant victory over Kuwait at ACC Women’s Premier Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal continues to dazzle in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, securing a thrilling semifinal spot after a captivating triumph against Kuwait.

In a fiercely contested quarterfinal clash, Nepal emerged victorious by a convincing margin of eight wickets, solidifying their status as formidable contenders in the prestigious tournament.

Choosing to bat first upon winning the toss, Kuwait found themselves in a precarious position against Nepal's relentless bowling attack, ultimately succumbing to a modest total of 73 runs.

The match witnessed an extraordinary display of skill from Sita Rana Magar, who left spectators spellbound with her spectacular hat-trick. Magar's remarkable performance saw the dismissal of Priyada Murali, Marayam Omar, and Amana Sharif Tarik in quick succession, effectively dismantling Kuwait's batting lineup.

In addition to Magar's heroics, Kabita Kunwar's impactful contributions with the ball further bolstered Nepal's dominance on the field.

Despite commendable efforts from Kuwait's Priyada Murali and Khadija Khalil, who contributed 29 and 13 runs respectively, their team fell short of posing a significant challenge to Nepal's formidable squad.

With this triumph, Nepal maintains their flawless record in the ACC Premier Cup, having secured resounding victories over Hong Kong, Bhutan, and Maldives in the group stage matches.

As the tournament progresses, Nepal remains poised to vie for a coveted spot in the Asia Cup, with the top two teams in the finals earning the prestigious opportunity.
