Nepal Police Report: Major Highways Blocked Due to Floods, Landslides, and Road Repairs

Kathmandu. According to updated details by the Nepal Police, as of Sunday 8 AM, main highways across various parts of the country are blocked due to floods, landslides, and road repairs.

Traffic services have been severely affected on important road sections in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Kathmandu Valley, due to continuous rainfall causing floods and landslides.

In the Bagmati Province and Kathmandu Valley, roads have been closed with long-term impact due to road repairs and landslides. In Chandragiri Municipality-9, Deuradali Devisthan, Kathmandu, the Satungal-Chitlang road section is completely blocked due to a landslide. This road has been closed for a month from Jestha 16 due to the need for repair work.

Similarly, in Makwanpur's Indrasarovar Rural Municipality, the Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section is also completely blocked for a month from Jestha 15 due to road repairs. Furthermore, in Kavrepalanchok, considering the risk of potential floods, the operation of all vehicles on the BP Highway road section running from Khurkot-Nepalethok-KutunjeBensi has been stopped since Jestha 22.

Likewise, in the Koshi Province, floods and landslides have severely affected the Mid-Hilly Highway. The Mid-Hilly Highway is completely blocked due to a landslide in Khotang's Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-8, Pankhu Khola on Jestha 28.

The Mechi Corridor has also been completely closed since Jestha 28 due to floods in the Puwakhola in Ilam, although the police have stated that arrangements have been made to use the Mechi Highway as an alternative route immediately. In Bhojpur's Bokhim and Panchthar's Dobhan in the Koshi Province, although roads have been affected by floods, traffic has been resumed one-way on that section of the Mid-Hilly Highway using alternative routes.

In Gandaki Province, the Mid-Hilly Highway is completely blocked due to a landslide in Lamjung's Madhyanepal Municipality-10, BimireBhanjyang today. However, there is an alternative route available to resume traffic there. With the onset of the rainy season, the number of road blockages in various parts of the country has increased.
