Nepal Police Club clinches prestigious PM CUP trophy
KATHMANDU: In an impressive display of skill and determination, Nepal Police emerged triumphant in the highly contested Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024.
Facing off against formidable opponents, including Tribhuvan Army Club in the final clash at the prestigious Tribhuvan University cricket ground, Nepal Police showcased dominance, securing a well-deserved title.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Tribhuvan Army Club set a target of 182 runs. Despite a commendable effort by the Army's Bibek Yadav, scoring a crucial half-century with 63 runs, Nepal Police's bowling unit, led by Lalit Rajbangshi and Dipendra Singh Airee, proved instrumental.
The duo claimed three wickets each, while Sagar Dhakal, Karan KC, and Kushal Burtel contributed with one wicket each.
In response, Nepal Police exhibited outstanding batting prowess in the second innings, successfully chasing down the target in just 37.5 overs with four wickets down.
Key contributors included Shankar Rana with a remarkable 62 runs, Arjun Saud with 36 runs, Amit Shrestha with 28 runs, and Aarif Sheikh with 27 runs.
This victory not only marked a significant achievement for Nepal Police in the cricketing arena but also solidified their status as the champions of the PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024.
The tournament, featuring 10 teams, witnessed Nepal Police's exceptional performance throughout, culminating in a well-deserved title win.
