EC gears up for by-election in Baishak, targeting vacant posts across local, provincial, and federal levels
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is actively preparing for a by-election to fill vacant positions at local, provincial, and federal levels. Discussions on this matter have commenced within the commission, as confirmed by Saligram Dhakal, the spokesperson for the EC.
The EC aims to conduct the by-election in Baishak next year, signaling its commitment to address the current vacancies in various levels of government.
Presently, there are 25 vacant seats across all three government tiers, including 17 ward chairperson positions, one each for mayor, chairperson, and vice-chairperson, along with one seat each in the parliament and provincial assembly.
As the EC moves forward with its plans, the upcoming by-election in Baishak is poised to play a crucial role in filling these empty posts and ensuring effective representation in local, provincial, and federal governance structures.
