KATHMANDU: Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, conducted high-level discussions with prominent political figures in Nepal on Sunday, marking a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The meeting, which saw the participation of key leaders from various political parties, focused on fostering closer diplomatic relations, exploring avenues for collaboration, and extending mutual support. Dr. Shankhar Kathiwada, Secretary of the Foreign Department of CPN (Unified Socialist), provided insights into the discussions that unfolded during the meeting.
Among the notable attendees were Dr. Shekhar Koirala from the Nepali Congress, Shankar Pokharel from CPN-UML, Dev Gurung from CPN (Maoist Center), and Urmila Aryal, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.
The gathering of these influential political figures highlights the importance attached to the discussions and the potential for collaborative efforts between China and Nepal.
Prior to the broader meeting, Chinese Vice Minister Sun held separate discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli.
