Law and Justice Committee demands swift disclosure on Nepal-India pact within seven days

KATHMANDU: The Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee have intensified scrutiny on the government, urging prompt transparency regarding the recent bilateral agreement between Nepal and India.

In a convened meeting on Wednesday that saw Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in attendance, the committee sought a detailed brief from the Prime Minister on the agreement, instructing the government to unveil all relevant details within a span of seven days.

Controversy surrounds the High-impact Community Development Project Deal inked during the recent visit of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, sparking public concern and debate.

Prime Minister Dahal, addressing the committee, reassured that the agreement does not grant India unilateral authority to cherry-pick and implement projects. He emphasized a collaborative approach, attempting to allay anxieties related to the nature and execution of projects outlined in the bilateral pact.
