NC general secretary Thapa dissatisfied with National Assembly candidates selection
KATHMANDU: Gagan Kumar Thapa, the general secretary of Nepali Congress, has made public his dissatisfaction with the finalized list of candidates for the upcoming National Assembly election, revealing a rift within the Central Working Committee.
In a stark departure from party commitments, Thapa contends that the selection process has neglected long-serving leaders who were promised opportunities for representation. This deviation, according to Thapa, not only undermines the party's commitment to justice but also weakens the democratic principles it stands for.
The finalized list includes Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Anand Prasad Dhungana from Koshi Pradesh, Bishnu Devi Pudasaini and Jeetjung Basnet from Bagmati Province, Krishna Rokaya from Karnali, Narayan Dutta Bhatta and Baldev Bohara from Sudurpaschim, and Padam Bahadur Pariyar and Kiran Babu Shrestha from Gandaki. Notably, Bishnu Devi Sapkota will represent Lumbini, adding to the complexity of the situation as she aligns with the Dr. Shekhar Koirala faction.
