Ruling alliance convenes to finalize National Assembly seat allocation for upcoming elections

KATHMANDU: The ruling alliance is currently in session at Baluwatar to reach crucial decisions on the distribution of seats for the forthcoming National Assembly (NA) election among its member parties.

Present at the meeting are Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, alongside other key leaders.

In a prior meeting held on Saturday, the coalition had agreed to allocate 10 seats to Nepali Congress, six to CPN (Maoist Center), two to CPN (Unified Socialist), and one to Janata Samajbadi Party. However, the CPN (US) expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed allocation.

The impending election, scheduled for January 25, will decide the occupants of the 19 National Assembly seats set to become vacant in March. The ruling alliance aims to finalize seat distribution to ensure a united front in the upcoming electoral battle.
