Sarlahi implements prohibitory measures post protest tragedy

KATHMANDU: In response to the unfortunate death of Jay Shankar Shah during a protest in Barathathawa-6, the District Administration Office in Sarlahi has enforced a prohibitory order in Barahathawa Municipality, effective from 8 AM today until 8 AM Saturday.

The local residents initiated the protest, demanding upgrade in the services and infrastructure of the Primary Health Center.

In a bid to prevent the protest from escalating, the District Administration Office initially imposed a curfew from 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Saturday. Following the curfew's conclusion, authorities have now extended measures by enforcing prohibitory orders in specific zones, including Bhramastan, Hajariya, Hanuman Temple, and Soti Bridge, according to Chief District Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala.

The prohibitory order imposes restrictions on public gatherings, movements, and political activities within the designated areas.
