PM Dahal granted clean chit in long-pending defamation case

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been acquitted in a defamation case that lingered in the courts for seven years.

The case, filed by senior advocate Dinesh Triphati in Jestha 2073, accused PM Dahal of defaming the court.

The joint bench, comprising Justice Ishwar Katiwada and Kumar Regmi, adjudicated the hearing and delivered a verdict absolving Prime Minister Dahal of the defamation allegations.

This defamation case originated from an incident during a past political event where PM Dahal accused the court of acting against the peace agreement. The contentious remarks were prompted by the arrest of then Maoist leaders Bal Krishna Dungel and Chabilal Adhikari.
