PM Dahal refutes notions of 'anti-national' agreements

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, amidst growing concerns over the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) agreement between Nepal and India, has asserted that he cannot fathom entering into agreements that are detrimental to the nation's welfare.

Speaking at an event organized by the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, PM Dahal sought to address apprehensions surrounding the HICDPs agreement. He clarified, "There is no need for misunderstanding. I had a one-on-one meeting with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, where I raised concerns regarding national welfare and the export of electricity."

In response to criticisms of the HICDPs agreement, PM Dahal underscored that the authority to execute and decide on projects would not rest solely with one party. He emphasized that both countries would engage in mutual understandings and collaborations. According to the Prime Minister, the implementation of the agreement is intended for the collective welfare of Nepal.

Dahal's remarks aim to allay fears and misconceptions surrounding the recent bilateral agreement, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the initiative and its alignment with national interests.
