T-20 World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal beats Singapore

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Nepal defeated Singapore in the Asia Region Qualifiers for the T-20 World Cup Cricket Tournament going to be held next year. In the match played at the International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday, Nepal defeated Singapore by 8 wickets.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Singapore made 145 runs in the scheduled 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Batting in response, Nepal met the target in 16.3 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. Nepal scored 147 runs.

The two teams that reach the finals of the Asian region's final round of qualifying will qualify for the 2024 T-20 World Cup. The ninth edition of the T-20 World Cup is being organized jointly in the United States of America and the West Indies.

Eight different countries are participating in the final stage of the Asian region's qualifying tournament. Along with Nepal, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Malaysia and Singapore are competing in the competition.

Group 'A' of the tournament consists of host countries Nepal, Malaysia, Oman and Singapore. Group B consists of Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait and UAE. 

In the initial stage, all four teams in their group will play one match each against each other. After that, the first and second-placed teams from both groups will enter the semi-final stage of the competition. In the semi-finals of the competition, the winner of Group 'A' will compete against the runner-up of Group 'B' and the winner of Group 'B' will compete against the runner-up of Group 'A'.

Both the semi-final matches of the tournament will be played on the 3rd of November. Both the teams that will reach the final after achieving success in the semi-final match will be qualified for the T-20 World Cup to be held in 2024. The final match of the tournament will be played on October 5 at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground.
