Premier Students Travel to Serbia to Participate in ISF World School Futsal Championships
Oct 19: Premier International IB Continuum School is the only school in Nepal to have the prestigious Full Member School status from the International School Sports Federation (ISF). This gives our students an unprecedented opportunity every year to participate in the biggest school-level sports competitions. 5 students, Sugat Shrestha, Saransh Puri, Rajat Shrestha, Shayum Shrestha, and Shyameer Shrestha, accompanied by Team Coach Mr. Ankit Shrestha, traveled to Serbia from 8th to 17th October, to participate in this year’s World School Futsal Championships.
The true team strength and spirit of the Nepal contingent shone though when despite multiple injuries the players kept their heads held high and gave it their all in all seven matches. With one draw and one win against Bangladesh and losses against Brazil, Ukraine, and Croatia they earned the respect of the organizers and contingents from other countries for their spirit.
The ISF President, Laurent Petrynka, personally appreciated the teamwork of the Nepal contingent. The Premier team bagged the Fair Play Award which is a huge honor for the young sportspeople. Our team was one of the popular ones with journalists at the venue.
On Cultural Day, the unique team dance performance which had a patriotic song and the national flag as its core, was a show stealer and received a huge ovation from the audience. The team also got an opportunity to learn about Serbian history on the day through an interesting tour.
Overall, it was an impressive showcase that was put up by the team and the school looks forward to providing platforms for international participation to the students of Premier in the future.
