ACC U-19 Premier Cup: Nepal easily beats Bahrain
KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Nepal has won the second consecutive match in the ACC U-19 Premier Cup cricket tournament. Nepal defeated Bahrain by seven wickets in their second match played on Sunday. In the ongoing tournament in Malaysia, Bahrain won the toss and batted first before being bowled out in 37.5 overs.
Nepal, in their batting turn, achieved the victory target by losing only three wickets in 11.4 overs. Before that, Bahrain managed to score only 77 runs before being bowled out in 37.5 overs. From the beginning of the game, the Nepali bowlers kept the Bahraini batsmen under pressure. The top three batsmen of Bahrain could not even score runs in double figures.
Nepal will play its third match against Saudi Arabia on October 19. 16 countries are participating in the competition. Nepal is in Group 'A' of the tournament. After collecting four points from two games, Nepal is sitting in first place in the table.
Saudi Arabia is second in the table with two points from one game. Bahrain and Iran have not won a single match. From this tournament, three teams will be selected for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan this year.
The first and second teams in the qualifying tournament will be placed in Group 'A' of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup. India and Pakistan are in Group A of that tournament. The team that finishes third in the qualifying tournament will be placed in Group B of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are in Group B of the tournament to be held in Pakistan.
