Negotiations ongoing between Govt. and Employees

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Negotiations are ongoing between the government and the local-level employees in Singha Durbar. The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration had formed a negotiation committee to negotiate with the local-level employees who have been protesting by putting forward a 20-point demand.

The coordinator of the government’s four-member-negotiation team and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Kamal Prasad Bhattarai informed that the negotiations are ongoing still. According to Bhattarai, around 5 demands are being discussed still even though all other demands have already been addressed.

The protesting employees have put forth a 20-point demand. They have demanded that there should be a Chief Administrative Officer at the local level, equal development at all three levels, inter-provincial transfer, cyclical transfer system without consent, proper management of adjustment employees, calculation of age limit and service period, management of temporary and contract employees, and assurance of service security.

The coordinator of the protesting side, Deepak Gautam, told Ratopati that the negotiations are going on smoothly and positively.
