Curfew order issued indefinitely in Nepalgunj

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: A curfew order has been issued indefinitely from Tuesday in Nepalgunj after tension between the Hindu and Muslim communities. District Administration Office Banke issued a curfew order in effect from 1 pm according to sections 1 and 3 of clause 6 (A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.

The Office has informed that in the area inside the Rapti river bridge in the east, Khajura road’s way to Indrapur in the west, Ranjha Chowk in the north and Jamunaha area in the south, gatherings, meetings, rallies, and even walking has been prohibited.

On October 1, the Muslim community organized a protest rally regarding the status written targeting the Muslim community on the social network. On the other hand, on Tuesday, there was a controversy during the rally organized by the Omkar Family Hindu Society and there was a protest in the Nepalganj sub-metropolitan area, vandalism of public property, stone pelting, disorderly activities and other protests.

The administration has stated that the curfew has been issued because it was seen that there was a danger to the security of the general public and that there was a situation where peace would not be maintained.
