2 parliamentary committee meetings postponed due to absence of MPs
KATHMANDU, Sep 21: The meetings of 2 parliamentary committees, the Finance Committee and the International Relations Committee, have been postponed due to the absence of the required number of MPs.
To hold a meeting of the Finance Committee, 13 MPs are required as there are 24 MPs in the committee. However, only 11 MPs were present for the meeting. The MPs present for the meeting waited almost an hour before postponing the meeting.
Similarly, out of the 27 MPs of the International Relations Committee, only 14 are required to hold a meeting. However, two members were absent and only 12 MPs were present for the meeting.
Finance Committee Chairman Santosh Chalise informed that many MPs have gone to their districts and the teachers' protests have also played a role in the lack of quorum of the MPs.
