Gold smuggling case: Case registered against 29 people, 3 absconding

KATHMANDU, Sep 17: A case has been registered in the Kathmandu District Court against 29 people in the case of the smuggling of 60 kg of gold.

The District Government Attorney's Office in Kathmandu made 29 people the defendants in the case, including 3 people who are still absconding, the Office's Information Officer Mahesh Prasad Khatri informed.

Although the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) prepared an investigation report and suggested registering a case against 4 people who are still absconding, the District Government Attorney decided against making a Chinese citizen a defendant in the case immediately.

On the other hand, the District Government Attorney has decided to register a case against Rukmina Subba. The CIB had suggested not to make Subba a defendant in their investigation report.

They have decided to register a case against her, as it would send a bad message to not make her a defendant just because she is a cancer patient.

Here are the descriptions of the defendants:

1. Yao Pucheng alias Alex, a permanent resident of China living in Dhumbarahi, Kamanapa 4, Kathmandu.

2. LI WEN TSUNG alias Ali, a permanent resident of Taiwan.

3. LI NENGKAI alias Roger or Steps, 26, a permanent resident of China living in Basundhara, Tokha Municipality-5.

4. DING SHENG FA alias Souten, 27, a permanent resident of China living in Basundhara, Tokha Municipality-5.

5. Lin Chachyang, 36, a permanent resident of China living in Lazimpat, Kamanapa-2.

6. Thuptin Chhiring alias Tasi, 53, a permanent resident of India living in comfort housing in Kamanapa-3.

7. Harkaraj Rai, 49, a permanent resident of Charambi Gaun, Arun Rural Municipality-4 living in Pasikot, Budhanilkantha-4.

8. Dawa Chhiring, 40, a permanent resident of Belgium living in Kapurdhara, Kamanapa-26.

9. YANG WEN, a permanent resident of China living in Hotel Viyana in Kamanapa-26.

10. MI TIAN, a permanent resident of China living in Hotel Viyana in Kamanapa-26.

11. Krishna Kumar Shrestha, 55, a permanent resident of Bhojpur living in Kamanapa-32.

12. Pushkar Raj Bhatta, 49, a permanent resident of Ajaymeru Rural Municipality 1, Dadeldhura living in Suryavinayak Municipality-2, Bhaktapur.

13. Rajendra Kumar Rai, 46, a permanent resident of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality 4, Khotang living in Mahalaxmi Nagarpalika-6, Lalitpur.

14. Yadav Parajuli, 35, a permanent resident of Khadichaur, Balefi Rural Municipality-7, Sindhupalchowk living in Thimi, Suryavinayak Municipality-4.

15. Sudarshan Gautam, 38, a resident of Ratnanagar Municipality-12, Chitwan.

16. Ramkumar Bhujel, 54, a permanent resident of Ghyangsukathokar, Melung Rural Municipality-3, Dolakha living in Sano Bharyang, Swayambhu, Kamanapa-16.

17. Dilip Bhujel, a permanent resident of Poshtik, Milung Rural Municipality-1.

18. Suman Kharel, 34, a permanent resident of Chandakot Rural Municipality, Gulmi living in Tokha Municipality-11, Kathmandu.

19. Shiva Kumar Sararf, 45, a resident of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-4, Bara.

20. Kishor Basnet, 45, a permanent resident of Bhimeshwor Municipality-11, Dolakha living in Samakhusi, Tokha Municipality-10, Kathmandu.

21. Santosh Chand, 34, a resident of Campus Road, Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City-8, Kailali.

22. Ganesh Prasad Paudel, 56, a resident of Kharibot, Tokha Municipality-19 working as a Customs officer at Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office.

23. Birendra Nepali, 33, a permanent resident of Sipadol, Suryavinayak Municipality-8, Bhaktapur working as a deputy officer at Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office.

24. Kumar Dhakal, 57, a resident of Kageshowri Manohara Municipality-6, Kathmandu working as a buyer in the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office.

25. Saroj Shrestha, 50, a resident of Dhalko Khusibu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17 working as a telephone operator in Tribhuwan Airport Customs Office.

26. Rukmina Subba, 38, a permanent resident of Gaurdaha Municipality-1, Jhapa living in Ekatabasti, Budhanilkantha Municipality-10, Kathmandu.

27. Bhola Shah Sonar, a permanent resident of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Bara (absconding).

28. Jiban Chalaune, 38, a permanent resident of Geruwa Rural Municipality-4, Bardiya living in Chundevi, Kamanapa-4, Kathmandu (absconding).

29. Amala Roka, the owner of Hotel Viyan located at Thamel, Kamanapa-26, and a permanent resident of Thawang Rural Municipality-2, Rolpa living in Samakhusi, Kamanapa-29.
