Gold smuggling case: Ready Trade found to have smuggled 302 kg of gold

Ready Trade to pay 3.5 billion as compensation

KATHMANDU, Sep 13: An investigation conducted by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) revealed that Ready Trade Pvt Ltd has smuggled a total of 302 kg of gold.

The CIB is going to file a case against Ready Trade company in the Kathmandu District Court and demand the company to pay Rs 3.5 billion as compensation.

After a thorough investigation, the CIB is handing over its report to the District Government Attorney's Office on Wednesday. The Attorney's Office will file a case in the court based on the same report.

The investigation revealed that around 61 pieces of gold were smuggled through the Airport Customs Office by Ready Trade Pvt Ltd. The company was registered in the name of Dilip Bhujel, who works in construction in Kathmandu. Although the company is registered in his name, the police investigation has revealed that the owner is someone else.

According to the police, a total of 32 people have been arrested in this case and 18 others are still absconding. The CIB is adopting different methods to arrest the 18 who are absconding.

Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, DIG Yagya Binod Pokharel said that a purple notice has been issued to arrest the absconding people.
