Lalita Niwas case: Detention hearing concludes, verdict to come later today

KATHMANDU, Sep 10: The detention hearing has concluded in the case of misappropriation of the government land inside the "Lalita Niwas camp" in Baluwatar. The debate concluded on behalf of the 18 defendants in the bench of Justice Bholanath Dhakal in the Kathmandu District Court.

Today, there was a debate on behalf of Lokhari Ghimire, the former Head of the Samarjung Company, as the 18th defendant. Advocates Manoj Bhandari, Kanchan Krishna Neupane and Senior Advocate Kamal Prakash Ghimire debated on his behalf.

On the other hand, Assistant District Attorneys Prakash Gyawali and Chandra Sanjel gave their counterclaims. After the debate, the Justice ended the court session and said that he would pronounce the verdict by 4 p.m. on Sunday.

A total of 18 people have been detained for alleged involvement in the Lalita Niwas case. After the verdict, it will be decided whether the defendants will be imprisoned for preliminary investigation or released on bail.
