Holiday declared on Friday in Kathmandu to mourn Rizal's demise

KATHMANDU, Sep 9: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has declared a holiday on Friday in the Metropolitan City and its offices to mourn the demise of Mukud Rizal.

Mukud Rizal, the Ward Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, passed away during treatment on Thursday.

Education Officer Sitaram Koirala informed that educational institutions will not be closed during the holiday.

Rizal had been taken to the hospital for treatment due to high fever and pneumonia. He was kept in the ICU for 2 days and 2 days on the ventilator.

His dead body was taken to the National Assembly Hall for tributes and later to Pashupati for his last rites.

Mukud Rizal, who was also the coordinator of the Infrastructure Committee under the Metropolitan Executive, was elected as the Ward President in the local-level election of 2074 BS. He was born on 19th Kartik in 2027 BS.
