Government ready to give concessions for EV promotion

KATHMANDU, Sep 6: Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has said that the government is ready to give concessions and create a favourable environment for the promotion and expansion of Electric Vehicles (EV).

Minister Basnet said this while speaking at the joint inauguration program of 51 charging stations built by the Nepal Electricity Authority on Wednesday. Minister Basnet mentioned that the government has inaugurated 51 electric charging stations today and plans to expand them nationwide in the coming days.

He said that the inauguration of the 51 electric charging stations across the country is not only an electric journey but also an important contribution to green and sustainable development through electric vehicles. Minister Basnet said that electric vehicles will not only reduce the problems caused by climate change but also contribute to the economic development and overall transportation development of Nepal.

Minister Basnet said that the government has not limited electric vehicles only to the legal system and will advance the field of electric vehicles as a campaign in practical life. According to Minister Basnet, the construction of charging stations will prove to be important in the journey of green sustainable development of Nepal. He added that other electrical items should be produced in Nepal as well.
