Balen cancels China visit over China map

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: The Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, has cancelled his visit to China. 

Mayor Shah informed through social media that he has decided not to go on the 5-day visit after being invited by China.

Mayor Shah stated that China’s action of showing Nepalese territory as Indian territory on their map is against Nepal’s sensitivities.

“We consider it a wrong step against our sensitivities to show Nepalese territory as India’s without asking Nepal”, he said, “Thus, upon my ethics, I have decided against going on a 5-day visit at the invitation of China.”
