Parliamentary Committee Chairperson election today

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: 10 thematic committees formed under the House of Representatives will be completed today. According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, single nominations have been registered in 9 thematic committees and two nominations have been registered in one committee.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the chairman will be automatically announced in the committee where a single nomination has been submitted and the election will be held for the chairman of the Industry, Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare committee, which has two nominations.

According to the agreement between the parties, three candidates have been nominated by the Nepali Congress, two by the CPN UML, and one each from the CPN Maoist Center, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), CPN Unified Socialist, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Janamat Party.

Congress MP Arju Rana has filed her candidacy for the chairmanship of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, Ramhari Khatiwada for the State Order and Good Governance Committee and Santosh Chalise for the Chairmanship of the Finance Committee.

Similarly, UML MP Rishikesh Pokharel has filed his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee and Kiran Kumar Sah for the Women and Social Affairs Committee.

Ruling Party Maoist Center MP Bimala Subedi has filed her candidacy for Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee and JSP MP Raj Kishore Yadav has registered his candidacy for the International Relations and Tourism Committee.

Similarly, Bhanubhakta Joshi of CPN (US) has registered his candidacy for Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, Deepak Singh of RPP for the Infrastructure Development Committee and Abdul Khan of Janamat Party has registered his candidacy for Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee.

Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Ganesh Parajuli has also registered his candidacy for the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee.
