Budget Ordinance submitted to Parliament in Koshi Province

BIRATNAGAR, Aug 18: The resolution presented in the Provincial Assembly of the Koshi Province regarding the rejection of the budget ordinance registered by the ruling coalition has been withdrawn. Along with this, the budget ordinance has been submitted to the Provincial assembly.

The then Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki brought the budget through an ordinance on June 15. The ordinance was tabled in the Parliament on June 29. To reject the Ordinance, the Nepali Congress registered a rejection proposal separately, while the CPN Maoist Center and the CPN Unified Socialist jointly registered.

Both Congress and Maoist Center withdrew the proposal to reject the Ordinance in the Provincial Assembly meeting held on Friday. Chief Whip Bhupendra Rai from Congress and Maoist Center MP Narayan Burja Magar said that the rejection proposal was withdrawn due to changes in the province’s equation and situation.

After the proposal to reject the ordinance was withdrawn, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning Baburam Gautam submitted the budget-related ordinance to the Parliament in the Provincial Assembly meeting.

The Bill to replace the Ordinance tabled in the Parliament must be passed by August 27. The ordinance will become inactive after that date.
