UML boycotts Public Accounts Committee meeting

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: MPs of the primary opposition party CPN-UML have boycotted the Public Accounts Committee meeting of Parliament.

The meeting was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 1 pm but as the MPs of UML were absent from the meeting, it could not be held due to lack of quorum.

The Chairman and the senior member of the country, Arjunarsingh KC, informed that the MPs of other parties waited for the UML members until 1:45 pm, but the meeting was cancelled as they didn't arrive by that time.

Before this, UML MP Yogesh Bhattarai had already warned to boycott the committee meeting if the Chairman of the Accounts Committee was not elected.

Today's meeting was scheduled to discuss the review of Beruju before it was boycotted by the UML.
