CIB sends letter to Mint Division to weigh gold

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has sent the letter for weighing the gold seized from Sinamangal 27 days ago, to the Mint Division of the Nepal Rastra Bank. Thaneshwar Acharya, the director of the Division, informed Ratopati that the letter had arrived from CIB.

With this, the process to weigh the gold has moved ahead, but Acharya said that they are also waiting for a letter from the Department of Revenue Investigation. He said that the letter they were awaiting was also necessary in order to start the weighing process. Only then will the official quantity of the gold be known.

According to the division, the process will take around one week, as two days are necessary for smelting the gold, and then it would take more days to weigh the gold.
