People will be discouraged when parliament does not run for a long time: President

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that people will be discouraged when the parliament is not able to run for a long time. While discussing with Speaker Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Timilsina in Sheetal Niwas on Friday, President Paudel requested to make necessary efforts to open the parliament by taking the parties into confidence.

During the discussion, Kiran Pokarel, the press advisor of the President, told that President Paudel is concerned about the obstruction of the parliament.

He said that President Paudel has drawn the attention of Speaker Ghimire and National Assembly Chair Timilsina to take the necessary steps to open the parliament by taking all the parties that are in the parliament, into confidence.

CPN UML has been continuously obstructing both houses of the parliament since July 26 demanding a high-level investigation committee into the recent case of gold smuggling. Ghimire and Timilsina expressed their beliefs that the problem will be resolved very soon as continuous efforts are being made to resume the parliament.
