UML obstructs HoR meeting demanding inquiry committee

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The primary opposition party UML has obstructed today's House of Representatives meeting demanding the formation of a high-level inquiry committee on the gold smuggling case.

The UML MPs stood up from their seats and protested at the beginning of the HoR meeting demanding the formation of an inquiry committee.

The MPs from the ruling party Maoists, Congress and JSP also stood up in protest after Speaker Devraj gave time for UML MP Surya Thapa to speak.

UML MP Thapa objected that the government hadn't formed an inquiry committee even after 22 days. After Thapa's speech, the UML MPs also protested by shouting slogans to form a high-level inquiry committee.

The Speaker has adjourned the House of Representatives meeting until 1 pm on Friday.
