Manipur violence: 3 killed as violence flares up again
INDIA, Aug 5: Three people, including an elderly man and his son, were killed in a fresh incident of violence in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Saturday. A police official said that suspected terrorists stormed Kwakta Lamkhai village and started firing indiscriminately.
Due to this, three people died on the spot.
Some people have also been injured in the attack. Unconfirmed reports said that the militants have also abducted two villagers. The remaining residents of the village fled as a result of the attack.
Police reached the areas with additional force and recovered the bodies. The deceased were identified as Yumnam Pishak Meitei (67) and his son Yumnam Premkumar Meitei (39) and a neighbour Yumnam Jiten Meitei (46).
