Corruption case filed against Account Officer of Sundarharaicha Municipality

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Shekhar Dahal, the Account Officer of Sundarharaicha Municipality, Morang, in the special court.

Dhakal had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs 200,000 for the purpose of paying for the maintenance work done in the ward offices.

A team deployed by the Commission's office in Itahari detained Dhakal along with the bribe money on the 7th of July. The Commission filed the corruption case in the special court claiming that the bribery was confirmed through their investigation.

The investigation by the Commission revealed that Dhakal took the bribe for the purpose of paying for the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and solar panels in the City Executive Office of the Sundarharaicha Municipality and the ward offices.

The spokesperson of the commission, Bhola Dahal, informed that they have claimed a demand for a fine and imprisonment against Dhakal for the offence under Sub-section 910 of Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
