Writ against Koshi Provincial Government in Joint bench of Justices Khatiwada, Bhattarai and Shrestha

KATHMANDU, July 25: The writ filed in the Supreme Court because the appointment of the Chief Minister of Koshi Province was unconstitutional, has been scheduled for hearing in the full bench of the Supreme Court.

After the joint bench of Justices, Sushmalata Mathema and Til Prasad  Shrestha ordered to send the case for hearing in the full bench on Monday, the writ has been scheduled for hearing in the Joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Til Prasad Shrestha.

A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on July 7 on behalf of former Chief Minister and UML Parliamentary Party leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, alleging that Congress Parliamentary Party leader Uddhav Thapa was unconstitutionally appointed Chief Minister.

Karki filed a writ petition against the Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung, Chief Minister Thapa, and Speaker Baburam Gautam, saying that the signature of Speaker Gautam was also used for the formation of the government. In the writ petition, Karki has also requested the order to appoint himself as the Chief Minister.
