Hearing against Koshi Chief Minister's appointment ends, Court order to be issued today

KATHMANDU, July 12: The hearing on the writ filed in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Uddhav Thapa as the Koshi Province's Chief Minister has ended. The writ was heard in the single bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla on Wednesday.

The outgoing Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Karki filed a writ petition on Friday against the newly elected Chief Minister Thapa, Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung and Speaker Baburam Gautam.

Karki claimed that in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution, including the Speaker while appointing the government is against the Constitution.

In accordance with Article 168 Clause 3 of the Constitution, the outgoing Chief Minister Karki requested a mandate to appoint himself as the Chief Minister as the leader of the largest parliamentary party in the Provincial Assembly.

According to sources from Supreme Court, the court order will also be issued on Wednesday.
