3870 electric vehicles imported in Nepali month Jestha, 11 billion 237 million spent
KATHMANDU, June 23: In the last month, there has been an increase in the import of electric vehicles. According to the statistics of the customs department, 3 thousand 870 electric cars, vans and jeeps were imported only in the Nepali month of Jestha. With difficulty in importing petroleum vehicles, businessmen are attracted to electric vehicles.
According to the department, a maximum of 3,752 electric vehicles with less than 100 kW battery power have been imported during this period. Similarly, 116 electric vehicles of 101 to 200 KW capacity and 2 electric vehicles of 201 to 300 KW capacity have been imported. In this way, Rs 11 billion 2373 million 92 thousand was spent on 3 thousand 870 electric vehicles imported in just one month, according to the Customs Department.
The department also informed that the government has collected a revenue of Rs 3 billion 51 million 183 thousand rupees from this. As taxes such as customs and excise duties on electric vehicles are less, the government has received a big blow in its revenue.
