Finance Minister holds meeting with World Bank's Vice President, South Asia region
KATHMANDU, June 8: A meeting was held today between Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat and World Bank's Vice President of South Asia Region Martin Raiser.
Finance Minister discussed Nepal's challenges of fiscal management, budget strategies and resource management in the meeting. Topics such as re-prioritizing projects, increasing investment in productive sectors and providing loans at relief rates were brought up in the meeting.
Dr. Mahat urged the World Bank's Vice President to focus on infrastructure development while extending gratitude for the World Bank's role in Nepal's socioeconomic development.
On the occasion, the Finance Minister thanked the World Bank's representatives for taking a lead role in ensuring financial closure for the Upper Arun Hydropower Project.
