Three people missing as jeep plunges into Sunkoshi river

SINDHULI, June 2: A jeep has plunged into the Sunkoshi River at Lukun on the Mid-hills highway in Golanjor Rural Municipality-7 today. The jeep fell 150 meters below, from the road. Three passengers have gone missing in the mishap. 

Deputy Superintendent Chiranjibi Dahal at the District Police Office, Sindhuli said the jeep (Ba 1 Jha 7467) carrying employees of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) was heading towards Khotang from Kathmandu.

It is said four people were on board the jeep and a person managed to come out of the river safely. The condition of the remaining three is unknown, Dahal said.

The missing people are Krishna Bahadur KC, director of the administration branch of CTEVT's office in Sanothimi, Yam Prasad Ghurtel, director of the planning division, and Bhanu Poudel, who is currently working as an electrical instructor.

The 31-year-old driver, Krishna Chaudhary came out of the river by swimming.

DSP Dahal said a police team has been sent from the district to carry out a search for the missing persons.
