UNHCR supports investigation of Bhutanese refugee case

KATHMANDU, May 10: The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Nepal has welcomed the ongoing investigation into the case of fake Bhutanese refugees. In a conversation with Ratopati, the office of UNHCR in Nepal has also expressed deep concern over the recent incident of Nepali citizens being cheated.

The office said that the collective resettlement program of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal ended on December 31, 2016, and will not restart.

In the note received by Ratopati, it says, "We are ending the resettlement program of Bhutanese refugees. And, it will not resume again." UNHCR has been continuously informing about the end of the resettlement program.
