Fake Bhutanese refugee case: Former Home Minister Khand arrested, Brought to District Police Range

Total 12 arrested in the case

KATHMANDU, May 10: Police arrested Congress leader and former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand in the fake Bhutanese refugee case on Wednesday morning. In the case of making Nepali citizens into Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America, Khand was arrested based on the statements of those arrested earlier, informed Shyamlal Gyawali, the chief AIG of the Valley Police Office. 

Khand has been brought to the District Police Range Kathmandu for investigation. Khand was arrested from his residence at Chuchchepati.

Following the arrest of Khand, his personal assistant Narendra KC was also been arrested from Jadibuti.

With this, the total number of arrested in this case has reached 12. Police have already arrested Ramsharan KC, Govinda Chaudhary, former Home Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa's security advisor Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Tanka Kumar Gurung and UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi's son Sandeep Rayamajhi.

However, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, whom the District Court had issued an arrest warrant a week ago, is still absconding.
