Protest and strike in Mirchaiya Bazaar

SIRAHA, April 21: The locals of Siraha's Mirchaiya Bazaar protested and called a vehicle strike on Friday as well.

The local residents of Mirchaiya are continuously protesting claiming that Shravan Kumar Yadav, the mayor of Mirchaiya, has committed atrocities on them. Meanwhile, on the call of the All-Party Joint Struggle Committee on Friday, the market in the Mirchaiya bazaar has been closed from 6 am to 6 pm and a vehicle strike has been called on the highway.

The locals closed the market and declared a strike on Friday accusing the police of beating the local residents and repressing them with aerial fire and tear gas during the peaceful demonstration against the town chief Yadav on Thursday.

The leaders of the movement have demanded action against the Deputy Superintendent of Police Harikrishna KC of the Mirchaiya Area Police Office, saying that the police used excessive force. They have accused Yadav of doing illegal activities by demolishing houses in the market area, creating terror in Mirchaiya, taking away the fundamental rights of the people, running the municipality arbitrarily, committing corruption, and ordering the land of the public pond to be allotted in the name of individuals.
