Surrounding houses sunk down during construction of Summit Apartment in Lalitpur
LALITPUR, April 8: After the surrounding houses sunk down during the construction of the Summit Apartment in Bakhundol, Lalitpur, locals have been greatly affected. After the houses nearby the apartment sunk down last night, the local residents were terrified and many fled.
The locals have alleged that due to the work of building apartments without passing the map and without even taking permission from them, their houses were also destroyed. They said that they have no place to live and have also demanded to make necessary arrangements immediately.
The houses around the under-construction apartment have sunk down almost one story. The locals have said that all the people who lived in rent have fled and they themselves are also not in a condition to stay at home. Locals also claim that no permission was taken from the concerned ward or any other body to build the apartment. They have also demanded immediate action against those who are building the apartment illegally and making them homeless.
Meanwhile, a parliamentarian of Lalitpur Region no. 3 Dr. Toshima Karki demanded that the companies and investors who are building the apartment should provide proper compensation to the locals. After inspecting the sunken houses on Saturday morning, she demanded from the government to provide proper compensation to the locals and take strict action against the culprits. MP Karki also said that she had spoken to the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan on the matter and also expressed her commitment to giving justice to the locals.
During the construction of the apartment, many were injured while fleeing, after the surrounding houses collapsed. MP Karki said that she would take the initiative to arrange for their treatment and proper compensation. The residents of that area are under stress as the roads are also cracked. They are expressing their anger that the construction company did not listen to their pain even though they were in trouble.
The construction of the apartment has also been stopped due to pressure from the locals.
