Nepali Congress decides on ministerial candidates for new Cabinet

KATHMANDU, March 28: After much deliberation, the Nepali Congress has finalized its candidates for ministerial positions in the new government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The party is set to receive eight ministries, including the Finance, Foreign, and Health Ministries, among others. President Deuba will appoint eight ministers from among those close to him, with Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka likely to lead the team and Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat expected to be the next Finance Minister.

Other top picks for ministerial positions include NP Saud, Ramesh Rijal, and Sita Gurung, as well as Rajan KC and Deepak Khadka recommended by Prakashman Singh and Shashank Koirala, respectively. Businessman Binod Chaudhary and Udaya Shumsher Rana are also said to be lobbying for the post of Foreign Minister.

In addition, the Shekher-Gagan-led group of the Nepali Congress is expected to be granted two ministries. The new Cabinet is expected to be formed soon, with the Nepali Congress joining other key coalition partners in supporting the new government's agenda.
