PM Dahal wins vote of confidence for the second time

KATHMANDU, March 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has received a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives (HoR) for the second time.

After Speaker Devraj Ghimire presented the proposal regarding the Prime Minister's vote of confidence for the decision on Monday, the division of votes resulted in a majority in favor of the proposal regarding the Prime Minister's vote of confidence.

Altogether 172 MPs voted for PM Dahal's vote of confidence, while 89 MPs cast votes against the proposal. Similarly, one MP remained neutral.  A total of 262 MPs were present at the HoR meeting.

After the CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) withdrew their support to the government, Dahal had to retake the vote of confidence due to constitutional compulsion. When the vote of confidence was taken for the second time, Dahal was given a vote of confidence by parties other than the UML, RPP, and Nepal Workers Peasants Party.
