Janamat Party claims vice presidential post

KATHMANDU, March 10: The Janamat Party, one of the eight coalition members of the current Nepalese government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has nominated Mamata Jha for the post of vice president of Nepal. Dilip Shah, Vice Chairman of the party, confirmed the news of the nomination.

This move comes after Ram Chandra Poudel of the Nepali Congress was elected as the President of Nepal. Additionally, the Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has mandated the nomination of female candidates for the position of vice president, adding a new dimension to the vice presidential race.

The nomination of Mamata Jha by the Janamat Party will be subject to approval by the government and the Election Commission. If successful, Jha will be one of the main contenders for the position of vice president of Nepal.
