Leaders in mood of reviving the previous coalition govt
KATHMANDU, Fe 20: Leaders of the then five member coalition government-led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of Nepali Congress, are once again seen trying to revive their coalition government.
Prior to the general election, a coalition government of Nepali Congress in support of CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Janamorcha Party was formed which later split following Nepali Congress’s decision not to handover the post of Prime Minister as agreement and lost its power.
CPN (Maoist Center) then joined hands with CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Janamat Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party and formed a government under the leadership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center).
However, as the presidential election is nearing, leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Janamorcha Party are witnessed holding meetings with PM Dahal in a bid to revive the previous coalition government.
Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN (US) and Upendra Yadav, Chairman of JSP held a meeting with PM Dahal on Sunday evening and discussed possibilities of reviving the previous coalition government.
Soon after Nepal and Yadav, leaders of Nepali Congress including Ram Chandra Poudel, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Gagan Thapa and Krishna Prasad Sitaula reached Baluwatar and held a meeting with PM Dahal.
